Youth exchange “MAKE MUSIC NOT WAR” is a two part multinational youth exchange of around 12 young people from Rwanda and Germany, with music background or interest in digital content creation.
The first exchange, in Germany, will also invite young people from 6 other conflict countries: Cyprus, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Poland, Rwanda and Germany. This exchange will last 16 days from 27th April – 12th of May 2026 in Garlstedt close to Bremen, Germany. The second part of the exchange will bring together the youngsters from Rwanda and Germany once again, in Kigali, Rwanda, to go deeper into the topic, explore the musical landscape in Kigali, and go deeper into the topic of reconsiliation and the effects of colonialism. “Make music not war” is a project that was created to serve as a tool for reconciliation and peace building between young people from conflict countries in the world.

The goals of the project
The goal of the project is to allow youngsters from conflict countries to get to know each other, get to know each other’s music and culture, customs, traditions and food, to become friends and hopefully after the exchange to create even more follow up activities that will involve even more young people in peace building and reconciliation rather than in war.
All costs for accommodation and food are covered by the Erasmus + programs. Travel costs for the exchange for participants from Germany will be covered or reimbursed. We charge a participation fee of 100€!
If you want to read more details about the first exchange, make sure to check out the Infopack.
More information about the exchange in Rwanda will be shared post selection process. However, all costs, including accomodation, food costs, and travel to Rwanda will be covered by the programme.
Accommodation
For the exchange in Germany, we will spend 5 days in Bremen, and then we will be accommodated in a youth center/group house in Osterholz- Scharmbeck, close to the city of Bremen.
The accommodation will be simple. Participants will be sharing rooms with 3-4 people from different nationalities. We strive to accommodate the diverse needs of our guests when assigning rooms, taking into consideration individual preferences and requirements, including those related to gender identity and expression. Some of the rooms are with private and some with shared bathrooms.
We are the only group in the house. Two of our NaturKultur team members will take care of the food and logistics.
