Sandra in Bremen // Last Report

Today is my last day of volunteering and I find myself still avoiding confronting my emotions. There are so many feelings swirling inside me, but I know I need to unravel them so I can continue my journey.

Almost a year ago, I arrived in Bremen. I remember my first day vividly, the excitement, the nervousness, the joy of starting something new. And now, as I walked through the city center for the last time, I felt a deep sadness. This city, with all its streets, memories, and experiences, will hold a special place in my heart forever. Bremen has been life-changing for me. It was an opportunity that over 200 people wanted, and yet I was the one who got it. And now, it is over.

This journey has taught me so much, lessons that cannot be read in a book or learned in a classroom. It has given me insights into who I am, taught me to accept myself with all my flaws, and shown me that there are always areas where I can grow. Along the way, I have met incredible people. Some of the friendships I have formed here I know will last a lifetime. Despite not speaking perfect English and coming from different backgrounds, we connected on a deeper level. We may change cities or even countries, but the bond we built during this year will remain with us forever.

This experience has been more than volunteering. it has been a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and growth. Bremen will always be part of my story, and I leave with memories and lessons that will guide me for the rest of my life.

Sandra was hosted by NaturKultur e.V. on our project co-funded by the European Union.
