Are you interested in creating a project to make Europe more visible and accessible? Do you want to empower young people to take part in European mobility and democratic debates?
If the answer is “Yes”, then this opportunity is your chance – come to Bremen and support the Department for European Affairs at the Senate Chancellery in their mission to bring Europe closer to the citizens!
- Dates: 07.09.2026 – 31.08.2027
- Location: Bremen, Germany
- Hosting Organisation: Freie Hansestadt Bremen Senatskanzlei (Department 51: European Affairs)
About your hosting organisation
As one of the 16 German States the two city State of Bremen/Bremerhaven forms part of the European multi-level system of government (regional, federal and European). The Department for European Affairs is linking these levels with regard to European issues.
One of the Department’s tasks is providing information on European topics for different target groups in the cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven. The mission is to make Europe visible, accessible, and understandable for civil society. This work is being done via a number of main channels, in particular:
- The Erasmus Coordination Unit: Promoting mobility and education opportunities.
- The EuropaPunktBremen: Regional EU Direct information centre for the public.
- The Europawochen (European Weeks): A major annual event series in May involving workshops, exhibitions and dialogue formats across the city.

Your Role and Tasks
As a volunteer, you will be fully integrated into the team, adding a youth-centered perspective and fresh ideas to the work in the field of political communication with civil society. Your activities will include:
- Erasmus Coordination: Supporting the preparation of information material
and outreach activities to schools, vocational institutions and youth organisations to promote European mobility via the EU’s Erasmus program. - Europawochen: Contributing to the planning and organisation of the European Weeks by developing interactive and participatory elements and documenting activities for young audiences.
- EuropaPunktBremen: Supporting daily visitor services and researching/preparing audience-oriented communication materials about the EU.
- Your Own Project: You will be encouraged to develop your own youth participation project (e.g., a social media campaign, a bar camp, a workshop for youth workers, or an art project). A special budget is implemented for this project, and you will have the freedom to decide independently what you would like to organize to engage young people in a dialogue about the EU. If you have already gathered experience in youth work in your home region and bring knowledge, network and ideas, we would very much welcome this additional input.
Logistics, Living & Awareness
NaturKultur e.V. will be the coordinating organization in charge of all logistical matters.
