If you’re passionate about working with young people in a school supporting “outside of lesson” activities and want to support their learning journey promoting non formal education, this project could be your perfect match!
Dates: 07.09.2026 – 31.08.2027
Location: Bremen, Germany
Hosting Organisation: Oberschule im Park
We are looking for a motivated volunteer to join the team of the school – supporting educational activities throughout the school day, especially in settings beyond the classroom!
About the School & Your Tasks

Oberschule im Park is a secondary school for students from grade 5 to 10, located in Gröpelingen – one of Bremen’s most diverse and multicultural districts. The school has a dedicated preparatory class (“Vorkurs”) for newly arrived young people who focus on learning the German language before joining regular classes. Many of the students come from families with a migration background and face challenges such as limited access to educational support at home, economic hardship, or social exclusion.
The school works closely with volunteers, interns, and social work students to create an open, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Solidarity, diversity, participation, and personal development are at the heart of the school’s educational philosophy.
As a volunteer, you will support activities beyond the regular classroom teaching. This includes social, creative and movement-based programs throughout the school day – and not only in the afternoon. You’ll bring your own ideas, motivation and cultural perspective into the school community and contribute to intercultural exchange.
Your tasks may include:
- Supporting small student groups with creative and social activities like crafts, teamwork games, and role plays – guided by professionals.
- Helping to organise break-time activities that promote fair play, movement and inclusion.
- Participating in swimming classes and supporting the school’s special subject track “Delikat Essen” – a profile subject on nutrition and cooking for 8th to 10th grade students.
- Planning and running your own weekly workshop on a topic you’re passionate about – such as art, sustainability, games, languages or culture.
- Joining weekly reflection sessions with a mentor, supporting the student council and connecting with local social partners.
- Helping organise fun holiday programs and acting as an ESC ambassador, sharing your volunteering experience with older students.
Your tasks will depend on your interests, the activities at the school during your stay, and your willingness to try out new things.
