Together with Precious Plastics Bremen we are looking for one volunteer.

Please note: This position is brand new and currently under review of the German National Agency and therefore not yet approved. It might happen that this placement will not be approved and us not being able to host a volunteer.

About your hosting organisation

Precious Plastic Bremen is a non-profit initiative and dynamic social enterprise dedicated to environmental protection, resource conservation, and social inclusion. As part of the global Precious Plastic movement, our local workshop transforms plastic waste into valuable resources. We foster an entrepreneurial mindset and promote democratic participation for societal transformation. Core activities include open workshop sessions where people with different backgroundstranscend language barriers, alongside educational workshops for schools and youth centers.

As a volunteer you will have an opportunity to:

  • Content Creation & Social Media: Shape our online presence (focusing on Instagram, LinkedIn & YouTube) by planning, filming, and editing videos and interacting with the community.

  • Research & Editorial Work: Prepare information regarding the plastic crisis and circular economy for our blog, social media, and information materials.

  • Impact Documentation: Support the creation of annual documentation and reporting as a central strategic public relations task.

  • Hands-on Workshop Activities: Actively assist in recycling workshops and neighborhood events, gaining authentic, practical experience with circular economy processes.

  • Entrepreneurship & Learning: Develop strategic communication skills, learn about green jobs, and build an entrepreneurial mindset to act as a “change maker” for a plastic-free future.

  • Implement Your Own Ideas: Bring in your own creative impulses—whether designing a new recycling product, launching a campaign, or organizing a youth format.

Logistics, Living & Awareness

NaturKultur e.V. will be the coordinating organization in charge of all logistical matters.

Living in Bremen: You will be accommodated in a house or flat for ESC volunteers located in Gröpelingen. Gröpelingen is a very vibrant, multicultural, and urban neighborhood. It is a place of rich diversity, but also a real city environment that requires an open mind.

Housing & Awareness: You will have your own private room in a shared apartment with max. 4 other ESC volunteers. Apartments are mixed-gender and equipped with shared kitchens, bathrooms, washing machines, and Wi-Fi. We value an atmosphere of awareness, mutual respect, and non-discrimination, and we expect our volunteers to be open to living and working in a diverse community.

Financials & Transport: As an ESC volunteer, you will receive health insurance, a monthly pocket money allowance, and a food allowance )210€ monthly pocket money, 323€ for living expenses). Local public transport costs will be covered by the hosting organization with a monthly pass, and travel costs to/from Germany will be reimbursed according to ESC distance rules.

Support & Mentoring: You will have a dedicated supervisor and mentor at Precious Plastic Bremen for weekly reflection and technical guidance, as well as an external ESC coordinator at NaturKultur e.V. You will also receive German language support (once per week) and have access to OLS.

  • … take initiative, possess a solution-oriented attitude, and want to develop your own project or campaign.

  • … are comfortable living in a multicultural district and in mixed-gender housing.
