Open Call – Start your ESC in 2021/22

*** Call closed!***

Got your degree or just left a job, and haven’t got a clue what to do next? The European Solidarity Corps got you covered! This EU programme invites you to spend 2-12 months abroad, volunteering in the social sector to gain new experiences!

What?

The Erasmus+ Programme of the EU enables young people, age 18-30, to volunteer abroad in a country of the EU (including selected partner countries)!

The voluntary service is organised through collaboration between a sending organisation (in Germany) and a hosting organisation (abroad).

Where?

The hosting organisations that invite European volunteers to join their teams are mostly active in Youth Work, but there are also opportunities in the sectors of environment, culture, working with refugees and other minorities, IT, and many others!

The possible hosting countries are all countries that are part of the EU (including former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Serbia), as well as partner countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Russia).

How much does it cost?

The Erasmus+ programme covers all costs for visa, accommodation and food, pre-departure, on-arrival, mid-term and evaluation trainings, as well as travel costs (amount depends on travel distance). You also receive a monthly pocket money (amount depends on hosting country). In addition to your existing health and third party liability insurance, you the programme covers additional insurance (by CIGNA).

While you are volunteering, you can receive child support money from the German state (if you are still eligible), and Universities generally accept your year abroad as a Wartesemester!

How do I find a project?

NaturKultur e.V. invites you to fill the form below. You can enter your preferred country of destination, the topics that interest you, describe how you imagine your perfect voluntary service, and let us know of any other priorities that you have. We will then look for a partner organisation, and develop a project together with the partner organisation and yourself. In October 2020, we can apply for the project to be funded by the National Agency, and if we are successful, you can start volunteering by the beginning of 2021, or later that year!

Why should I participate?

The ESC is a unique opportunity for young people to gain practical experience in a field of their interest, to develop their communication and team working skills, learn more about a culture and language, and try themselves in an entirely new environment! You can browse through some reports and blog entries by current and past volunteers here: https://www.youthreporter.eu/de/

You normally agree upon your weekly schedule as a volunteer with your coordinator. A standard week of work will not exceed 38 hours (Mo-Fri). Other than having free weekends, you are also entitled to 2 days of holidays per month, so there is plenty of time to explore the country!
