Dates: October 2020 – September 2021
Location: Bremen, Germany
As part of the project “ARTS – Achieve Recognition Through Social Media”, NaturKultur e.V. invites 5 young people to volunteer at 5 different institutions in Bremen. In Bremen there are a great many inspirational NGOs that do amazing work for the local community. Unfortunately, these acts of solidarity are not always recognised to the degree that they perhaps deserve by the wider population, due to lack of social media presence. This project hopes to set about solving this problem by introducing young passionate volunteers into the teams of these NGOs so they can help build up their social media pages and get more recognition, and not only that, but also inspire more people to act in solidarity. Furthermore, the volunteers join the day-to-day work of the organisations, providing help for their activities and learning along the way.
The European Solidarity Corps finances this project and wants to bring people from different backgrounds together to form a society based on mutual acceptance, solidarity and cohesion.
ServiceBureau Jugendinformation/Jugendbildungsstätte LidiceHaus will host 1 volunteer.
ServiceBureau Jugendinformation and LidiceHaus are part of a larger organisation named “Jugendbildungsstätte LidiceHaus gGmbH” in Bremen/Germany. The educational team of the organisation is currently made up of 22 youth workers, coming from a variety of fields such as social work, anthropology, peace and conflict studies and journalism.
The youth educational centre “LidiceHaus” (www.lidicehaus.de) is located in the recreational area “Stadtwerder”: surrounded by green, sports fields and the lake ,,Werdersee’’ and yet only 2km away from downtown.
“ServiceBureau Jugendinformation” (www.servicebureau.de) is hosted at a downtown location. This office will be the main anchor point for our volunteer. Its fields of work are international youth work, (digital) media literacy and youth information. We function as the regional “Eurodesk” office, offering mobility counselling for young people and youth workers.
The organisation works towards creating a solidary and equitable society. It encourages young people to trust the effectiveness of their own actions and to make their voice heard in democratic processes.
You do not need to have prior experience in social media and/or NGO or youth work, as you will learn as you go along. In the first weeks of your voluntary service, you will receive basic training in social media management through NaturKultur e.V., and you will always work alongside employees of the ServiceBureau and the youth educational centre.
NaturKultur e.V will be the coordinating organisation in charge of all logistical matter.
You will be accommodated in a flat in Bremen with max. 4 other ESC volunteers. You will have your private room.
Bremen is a city in North-West Germany (around 500.000 inhabitants), not far from Hamburg and the North Sea coast. Bremen is a vibrant, multi-cultural city with a lot of young people and both a historical centre and newer areas of towns.
